WELCOME TO THE GATHERING PLACEThe Erato Club Mayfair a decadent Sixties playground for London’s rich and famous But the Erato’s pleasures are nothing compared with those on offer at the. I received my copy free via Goodreads GiveawaysLondon s swinging sixties is drawing to an end and ambitious journalist Sophie Boyd is on the hunt for a story A friend from her newspaper days has been investigating the background to a wartime spy who went missing and Sophie signs up to help him dig the dirtThis is the ostensible premise for this novel but the missing spy story goes missing itself for much of this book as Sophie becomes embroiled in the seedy goings on in the Erato Club a nightclub where anything goes As she gains entry to the club we meet a collection of seedy individuals each less likeable than the last There is plenty of sex drugs and violence as Sophie is sucked inexorably into the lifestyle of the club s members and into the internal politics of the club with dangerous conseuencesIt s a fun read and there s plenty going on throughout I particularly liked the early seuences set in and around the Erato Club In truth as the tale progressed my dislike of just about all the protagonists became a bit of a barrier particularly as my support for Sophie also waned I started to find that I couldn t identify a single character I was willing to succeed and conseuently my interest dipped towards the end My main criticism however is that too many conversations took place that just didn t seem real somehow the flow was wrong Or maybe it was that insufficient effort had been made to establish a mood or a progression of behaviour that would have sanctioned the conversations Either way I had to force myself to push aside the feeling that it was all a load of toshThis aside it was an ok read and all loose ends were satisfactorily resolved by the end Even the missing spy story made a late re appearance

Ist Sophie Boyd must infiltrate if she is to investigate tycoon Hugo Summers’ connection with the disappearance of a wartime spy A world that will threaten her sanity her soul and her life. I received this book as a part of GoodReads giveawayThe storyline in the beginning looked promising and engagingBut as the lead character Sophie began her work as an undercover journalist in the club Eratto i kind of felt that the character got deviated from her purpose and lots of new thingscharacters come into picture Towards the end is when Sophie remembers her purposeThere were moments when i really had to convince myself to read onOverall the plot is okay and engaging

Enjoyable uick readThis novel has enough twists turns to keep you entertained I also liked that it was set in the 1960s The premise of the story was fresh not cookie cutter standard fare However the final ending seemed forced with not uite enough closure for my taste
