The first few chapters are slow Russian history featuring Grigori Rasputin and I almost put it down to be read at a later date All of a sudden KAPOW the story takes off like a flock of geese and does not stop until the last few pages Thank goodness he writes an epilogue so the reader can slow down and take a deep breath This book does have a certain amount of violence that may not suit all readers of the suspense genre Thomas Swan is a fabulous writer His language is literate He assumes his readers are intelligent He does not overly explain simple matters Taut crisp writing without a lot of adverbs adjectives I recommend this books for anyone who enjoys a well written interesting story with great characters I want to sit with a cuppa with Inspector Jack Oxby
