It is worth the read Wonderful book that while there is history it doesn't go in depth about it The characters are well put out and you get to know them It isn't the hangman's daughter but a basic slice of a good book

A gripping and absorbing read HISTORICAL NOVEL SOCIETY It is 1490 Northern Europe is in the grip of sweeping plagues and religious inuisitions and in daily terror of the Day of. What a great story This is historical fiction set in 1490 but told as if it is the current day at times it was like reading a soap opera set in the Middle AgesIn our story we have a nice array of characters all very interesting and different and vividly brought to life We also have The Black Death and the Spanish Inuisition it was a time of fear and strict religious practices Looking in on the lives of the people of Den Bosch we see secrets people scheming love and hate treachery and jealousy and in fact all of the 7 cardinal sins are represented among and within the townsfolk where plots thicken and evil lurksThere are not a lot of big surprises here the story for the most part goes on pretty much as expected but it s a good story and it is told beautifully with rich imagery and symbolism too It was an absolute joy to readI thought this book was a delight with a story brought wonderfully to life however it is a rather grim and sad tale at times as each character struggles with their own personal andor public battles and it does not always end well Talking of ending I thought it was about right here very satisfactory but not entirely happyI don t think I have any complaints at all about his book Great reading albeit not the most exciting the uality of writing really made it something elseVery happy to give this 55

I really don t know what to say about this book as I found it difficult to connect with the story and the charactersI think the history had been well written and researched but I found the writing to heavy Please don t ask what I mean by that I don t really knowIt s not often I get a book that leaves me this flummoxedHowever I did feel the characters to be well written and believable at least to the point I can understand itThe bottom line is that this book needs time to be read and appreciated to the full It isn t a book you will read and understand in just a day or two The story is good and well worth making the effort to read as I will be doing again at a later date

Judgement In the town of Den Bosch the artist Jerome Hieronymus Bosch paints his visionary denunciation of sin and folly ‘The Garden of Earthly Delights’ while his neglect. I say up front that this is an astounding work of literature It portrays life in the middle ages under the horror of the Inuisition that sucks you into it and the lives of the people in the town The characters are exceptionally well developed The complexity of the story is intriguing the drama keeps the reader on the edge of hisher seat the emotional undercurrents will rattle the soul of the most hardened reader This is a story of life in a dark age It is profound and will affect me for the rest of my life The only flaw is there is too much tell pulling the engaged reader outside the scene where thoughts and descriptions would have worked better The story and character development are so well done they overwhelm any negatives I wholeheartedly recommend this historical novel to anyone interested in the complexities of life regardless of the genre preferred This is a work of art
