Rahul Saini ☆ 0 Summary

E finds out that his publisher has cheated him out of his royalties Karun Ahuja is a highly ambitious schoolboy who wants to win the heart his lady love by writing a novel about it and he doesnt mind playing dirty to get to. When you find an original story told by an author with a commitment to write only if he has a good story to tell and if he takes a dig at the very phenomenon that he is involved with then you know you re dealing with some raw courage on hand And if the writing is witty at times deep and the plotline forwards without effort making you turn the pages then you know you re dealing with a good book and in good handsThree different people three different intentions three different motives All three are authors and all three narrate their stories in the first person The first person narrative has a uniue advantage It allows the author to tell the story from an intimate personal angle And so it happens that Rohit with his This is not done This is Just not done as the struggling victim Jeet with his hard on inside my underpants as the play boy and Karun with his Killer plan to oust everyone out of Dash publishers as the wayward teenager start talking to you It s really heavy at the beginning when its three first person conversations But the story uickly moves ahead and one gets used to the changing narrative as one begins to follow the storyThe surprise for me was the character of Jeet Inspite of beginning as the uintessential flirt and an incurable sex maniac Jeet turns out to be having deeper thoughts and meaningfully explores his own situation and begins to show signs of maturity towards the end of the story His and Neeti s love track makes for a nice romantic angle It s not deeply heart warming but it s nice to really see their transformation unfoldThe second surprise was Karun Karun s dreams are perhaps not well recognized and groomed by his teachers There are students like Karun everywhere and they get hooked to short cuts easily With their innocence and their tech savvyness they can really become dangerous Karun s story really tells how much responsibility a teacher has on hisher shouldersRohit and Pranav and their story is uite predictable I loved and enjoyed many of Rohit s interactions with students Having been a teacher myself and having seen the influence a teacher could have on students I loved it when Rohit begins grooming students as a mentor and when Pranav turns around under his mentorship Nothing satisfactory and these episodes do reflect what teachers would go through and how they respond to situations and challenges in their lifeThe depth and reach of a story are in its characters Though I felt they could have been better explored and deeply characterized I guess that s my heavy headed opinion having read James Michener Robert Jordan Doris Lessing Margaret Atwood Arthur Hailey and a few world class authors Perhaps if he focuses on Learning and Exploring himself through his writing than on Teaching the world a few things that he knows then Rahul Saini is definitely a class author in the making I am not like oh gawd I am really itching to read the next instalment of this but if there is one as Rahul says it s gonna be on my to read list

Paperback Dreams

The top Ruthlessly exploiting these ambitious young men is their unscrupulous publisher Sometimes funny sometimes shocking Paperback Dreams is the story of a new breed of young writers who will do anything to get famous fast. It was pretty impressive even because of the book cover and back cover s summaryI was looking for some Indian author this time So this is my first Indian novelIt was going really good in the startingbut when it reaches in the middle of the novel the story becomes dull and boring The starting spark of the book tends to diminishes as story goes fartherAnd the end was totally lame Its a filmy endingFrankly speaking this book attracted me due to its Jeet character but that too becomes lame as the end comes near There was many filmy plots in this novel which means lack of creative ideas and lack of maturity level I must wanna advice one thing to the writer that Don t be filmy try to be yourself and let your originality tells you what to write Peace

When should you write a book? When you have a story to tell OR When the characters you create can make the readers fall in love with them OR When your writing skills are exceptional despite having no plot at all
