Schoßgebete

Es ist ein Roman über Ehe und Familie über Sexualität und die Rolle der Frau und darüber wie eine große Katastrophe das Leben f No one is perfect And we humans as individuals are probably way flawed tainted and animalistic than we like to present ourselves But that doesn t necessarily mean that I find it particularly liberating to sit in on somebody else s therapy session which is how reading this novel felt like Charlotte Roche s first novel was already not uite my thing but with Wrecked following a different set of characters I was still ready to give it an open minded try More than exploring women s canine sexual natures and society s double edged standards this one focusses on figuring out what is expected of a wife how marriage in the 21st century can work and whether you just end up becoming your own mother anywayElizabeth Kiehl and her husband Georg are and aren t romantic in the traditional sense they love each other they have decided to raise a family and stay together for the rest of their lives Just like your picture book lovers But in contrast to those Eliza and Georg also watch porn go to brothels together and think about what it would be like to sleep with other people What Roche is aiming to do here is pointing out how that is normal how that is just human nature I don t even want to agree or disagree I didn t feel personally attacked or disgusted by twenty page long description of sex scenes my main problem was that I just wasn t interested I don t need to know why Eliza has issues about her small breast size and what implications that has I don t need to be in her head when she tries to analyse her difficult relationship with her mother It s deeply personal especially knowing that while it s fiction it is based on Roche s own experiences But I don t need to psychoanalyse other people s life I have got my own

Und wird gesagt werden Eines können wir Ihnen jedoch versprechen die Lektüre von Charlotte Roches Roman wird sie nicht kalt lassen The majority of this book does not relate or relates little to the author s and protagonist s sex life and body hygiene It primarily deals with her mourning about the death of her 3 brothers who died in a car accident this really happened So I do not agree with the general anxiety and excitement regarding this book in publicI can understand that she wrote a book trying to come to terms with the death of her beloved brothers However I don t understand the connection to her sex lifeIt is ok to read but not a book I consider as a must read

r immer verändern kann Offen und mutig provokant abgründig und komisch vieles und Kontroverses lässt sich über dieses Buch sagen Firstly I d like to say thanks to Fourth Estate for sending me a proof copy of this book Much appreciatedI find it hard to summarise my thoughts about Wrecked It s certainly like nothing I ve ever read but I m not entirely sure that s a good thing Not really a page turner in the traditional sense but at the same time I found it hard to stop reading in the same way it s hard not to slow down and gorp at traffic accidentsThe book covers three days in the life of Elizabeth Kiehl Three days thee therapy sessions and three central struggles that define who she isThere s a lot of sex throughout the book and the author launches straight into it from the beginning I believe the first 15 20 pages deals heavily with the intricacies of oral sex and almost nothing else The level of details is practically medical and doesn t really attempt to be arousing it simply reads as a live stream of conciousness from the head of the protagonist This also sets the tone for the book as a whole The majority flips between inner monologue and mainly one sided outpourings to the therapist What becomes apparent from the very beginning is the Elizabeth is clearly damaged in some way and I think the only thing that kept me reading was to find out how someone ends up like this and if there is any chance of redemptionDay 1 deals primarily with sex which I found a bit of chore to get through however it sets up well Elizabeth s damaged viewpoint on life love and relationships whilst hinting at the darker and damaging events of her pastDay 2 recounts a defining moment in her life when she lost three siblings in a traffic accident From what I understand this event is almost biographical as this actually happened to the author This event ultimately changes Elizabeth s life forever and starts the beginning of her 8 year stint in therapy as she tries to get through life with the shadow of death looming over her every thoughtDay 3 deals primarily with relationships of all kinds and as always unearths darkness from her past At this stage despite Elizabeth s controversial bizarre and often dark opinions on almost everything it s hard not to see her side of things Even if you don t agree with what she says it s hard to argue against it when she presents such a structured and logical argumentDay three draws to a close with little or no resolution It simply stops in the same manner it began and goes no way to apologise for that What was presented leaves very little hope of a brighter future for Elizabeth which is sad but perhaps it s impossible to rebuild a life once it s been utterly and truly wrecked
