review The Worst Best Luck

Peter Rabe's luck is about to change Taking a co worker's car into the shop nets him a desperately needed 100 tipand the attentions of Matt Kensington master mechanic Peter can't believe that someone as hot as Matt could be interested in the young man his tormentors used to call Peter Rabbit But incredibly enough he is And when the uadrillions lottery jackpot is up to 700000000 wouldn't it be crazy of Peter not to buy a ticket. This is the second book I ve read from this author and I liked this a bit than the first A Little Too Broken There are some similar themes between the two past abusive relationships and commentary on social issues this time it was poverty and lack of access to good health care I liked the two MC s but wanted development between them Though I thought it was a bit fast in their proclamations of I love you overall the heat factor was good and the resolution of the problem was satisfying A uick easy read with a HEA

The Worst Best Luck

On his lucky day Matt doesn't think much of money having grown up on New York's Upper East Side in the lap of luxury He'd walked away from the professional drudgery his Harvard degree had ualified him for to become a mechanic to touch things that were real to fix things that were broken And a hot shy guy like Peter is another machine Matt wants to believe he can fix But when Peter finds out he's won the lottery it almost feels. Didn t work for me The theme of coming from an abusive relationship and the empowerment of realising you re better than that and worth is usually a theme I ve really enjoy but unfortunately this book to just did not work for meI didn t like Matt as a character as I felt he came across as smug a lot of the time and I was truly sick of hearing about how big Matt was in every sex scene I think it was just me but I did not connect well with either of the MCs

Like his luck has run out Especially when Cody Burrell his emotionally abusive ex boyfriend mysteriously re enters his life just before he cashes the ticket and reveals his good fortune to the world Peter must wrestle with the pressures of wealth on someone who's grown up poor the pressure of fame that comes with so much instant fortune and most of all with his own demons the demons that Cody knows all too well how to manipulat. DNFI ve said it before and I ll say it again Mr Vance s books are hit and miss for me and this was a total miss I know that he has a difficult time toning things down but he sure went all out with the total victim main character in this one Peter gives Eeyore a run for his money and not in the sweet cute way It s a litany of complain after complain after complain why his life sucks and then when things get better he starts complaining because if they get better they will eventually get worse so he might as well not enjoy anything that s good This is taken to the extreme when he wins a super lottery jackpot an abusive lover comes out of the woodwork and Peter and his 11 other miserable inner voices become characters in the book too each one complaining and whining than the previous oneDefinitely not a book for me

35 starsThis was my second book by Brad Vance and definitely a much lighter romantic read than Luke's Brutal Abduction The Whole Story but just as enjoyableThe premise was uniue and I don't want to give away much

This was sweet and sour overall a tasty dishThis is a romance with all the swooning and kinky fun Loved both characters Peter and Matt They were interesting and fleshed out enough to add some serious dimension There are some bleak moments and some good ones There are mistakes and figuring things out and regrettably one TSTL moment

Money is the root of all evil or is it? Well this is the dilemma that Peter has to face when he wins the lottery jackpot After reading this book I’m not really sure whether winning all that money is a blessing or notPeter has a mundane office job in an advertising agency and although he has worked hard to get there like everyone else he is caught in the rat race with no way out His colleague Kyle asks him to

The Worst Best Luck had an interesting premise some promising characters with interesting backstories While all of this makes a great seed for a captivating novel WBL seems to falter in that it rushes far too uickly where a measured tone might have made the final resolution that much sweeter Am I saying don’t
