A choice between vows to two womenA WILDERNESS OF GLASS BY GRACE DRAVENThe stretch of sea known as The Gray rules the lives of those in the village of Ancilar including widow Brida Gazi In the aftermath of an autumn storm Brida discovers one of the sea's secrets cast onto the shore a discovery that will change her world mend her soul and put her in the greatest danger she's ever face Overall 34 stars I thought the uality varied wildly in this anthologyWINTER S WEB BY JENNIFER ESTEPI haven t read Estep s work I read a couple of chapters in this novella and felt the writing was immature and amateurish Not for me so I stopped One starA WILDERNESS OF GLASS BY GRACE DRAVENThis story falls in the Wraith Kings world but features completely side characters as the leads In fact one is not uite human Mostly this haunting story made me feel a little sad and I admit to being lost at sea with the ending It was beautifully written but the sadness brought me down The romantic couple didn t uite resonate it is not ideal when the most spark on the page is generated when the villain and the heroine interact 35 starsA CURSE FOR SPRING BY AMANDA BOUCHETI thought this was the best of the offerings by far It is a story complete within itself tied in no way to other series or characters It has a fairy tale uality with the usual tropes associated such as a uest childhood friends who fall in love evil ueen wicked witch etc However with the female lead as a deity it also struck an original note I felt the desperation of the characters and the romance was solid For once the female takes the lead and that was refreshing too Five starsTHE DRAGONS OF SUMMER BY JEFFE KENNEDYAlthough the Twelve Kingdoms stories are in my TBR pile I haven t even picked up the first one yet So of course with this novella I skipped right to book 35 or so it is clear people were coupled up in previous stories This novella revisits High ueen Ursula and her mercenary consort Even though I haven t read their story I was able to follow along in this seuel with little to no problem and that takes talent I thought the characters were intriguing and loved their interactions with each other and their relatives and friends It definitely made me want to pick up the rest of the series I also imagine that anyone who loved these two in book three will adore this long exciting epilogue to their story 4 stars
